Fabulous Mandu (Korean Wonton)

This homemade Korean wontons are so fabulous and authentic. I used to make these on New Year's with my mom and grandma all the time. They are super easy to make - it just takes a little time. But it's definitely worth it!

Korean Wonton (Mandu)

Ingredients:

1 package of round or square wonton/pasta wraps
1 lbs ground pork
1 firm tofu (You'll need to squeeze all the water out of the tofu - The best way to do so is to wrap the tofu in a thin, clean kitchen towel, and squeeze the water out. When you see no water coming out of the towel, open the towel and you'll see tofu all mashed up in the towel.)
2 green onions, chopped
1 teaspoon seasoning salt
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground pepper

Direction:

In a large bowl, mix ground pork, tofu, green onions, seasoning salt, salt, and ground pepper. (If you have a kitchen aid, use it to mix the ingredients well.)

Fill the wonton wraps with the mixture, about 1 tablespoon full of mixture in each wrap. Place the wrapped wontons on floured surface.

Pour about 1/2 cup conola oil into a large frying pan. On medium-high heat, fry the wontons until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side. (Make sure the pork inside the wontons are cooked thouroughly.)

Place cooked wontons on paper towel to drain oil. Serve with dipping sauce (recipe follows).

Wonton Dipping Sauce:
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
1/2 teaspoon chili pepper flakes or Korean style chili flakes (고추가루)

Mix all the ingredients and serve.
