This pink jello salad is a must have for our family gatherings and holidays. This recipe is very special because it is Sean's grandma's famous jello recipe that everyone just loves! The almonds give this jello such a nice crunch to each bite... and cranberries and raspberries together is a great mix of flavors! You may have heard lots of jokes about Mormons (I'm a mormon by the way) and their obsession with jello... Well, it's all true! I have had some of the best and craziest jello creations ever! I'm not too into creating crazy jello dishes yet but when I do, and I'm sure I will be someday, I will be sure to share the recipes with you. :)

Sook, thanks so much for joining my blog. And, I think Lutherans must be part Mormon. My wife is a Minnesota Lutheran and, up there, it seems no occasion is complete without a jello salad! I'm going to make this one for her.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Your ingredients call for cream cheese, but directions say sour cream, which do I use? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSorry Scott, I completely forgot to put "1 cup sour cream" in the ingredients. Thank you so much for clearing that out for me. I hope your wife likes this jello. We all love it in my family. :)

ReplyDeleteI have not heard jokes about Mormon's and their Jello salads. I grew up in the middle of Kansas and have eaten more versions of Jello salads that you can shake a stick at, and I'm not Mormon. And yes, some crazy concoctions! Love this post.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely presentation, this salad must be a hit in any gatherings.
ReplyDeleteI have never had or heard of Jello Salad. Very intresting!

ReplyDeleteha ha I guess it's a joke in Mormon communities... :) But seriously, I've had all kinds of crazy jellos but yet they all taste so good!
My grandmother has something like this but it calls for red wine and pecans. It is so good and a grand tradition!
ReplyDeleteYou're going to think this is hilarious. before I read the post, I thought my best friend would like this recipe - she's Mormon.
ReplyDeleteChristine, ha ha that is hilarious. :)

ReplyDeleteI haven't had jello in a long time. A friend of mine made a similar dish years ago. I'll have to give this a try!
ReplyDeleteomg sook my fiance's mother makes this incredible jello, very similar to this recipe but she doesnt add almonds on top (I am curious about the crunchy texture!!!) but I always eat a much bigger portion of it than any other item they have for Christmas dinner hahaha so imagine half a plate full of bright red scrumptious fruit jello and then little dollops of this and that. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThis is kind of funny... the only people I have ever met who actually eat jello salad are my cousins... who are Mormon! What is with you people and jello? ;)
ReplyDeleteJello salads are also popular down in the south as well :D This looks like a great one with the cream cheese and almonds.
