Fabulous Korean Style Sweet and Sour Pork (Tang-Su-Yuk 탕수육)

Today, I made one of my favorite Korean dishes called "Tang-su-yook" (sweet and sour pork) and man, it turned out so great! I used to order this at Korean Chinese restaurants all the time and I wondered if homemade one would be just as good but wow, it was fantastic!

Korean style sweet and sour pork 탕수육
Ingredients:
2 lbs pork loin (cut in thin strips)
1 cucumber
2 carrots
1/2 red onion
10 dried shitake mushrooms

*Meat Mixture"
1 cup corn starch
1/2 cup water
1 egg white

*Meat Seasoning*
1 teaspoon saseme seed
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup corn starch

Direction:

Seaon the pork with meat seasoning and set it aside for about 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, cut vegetables and set aside. Place shitake mushrooms in a medium bowl with 1 cup of hot water for about 10-15 minutes until they are softened.
Mix corn starch, water, and egg white well.
Soak meat in 2/3rd of the mixture.
Coat meat with 1/2 cup dry corn starch.

Heat oil for frying.
Fry the pork until it is golden brown and crispy.
Place cooked pork on a piece of paper towel to drain oil.

Heat oil (about 1 tablespoon oil) in a large saute pan on medium heat. Saute carrots, onions, and mushrooms for about 3 minutes. Mix sweet and sour sauce, pouring the corn starch mixture last to thicken the sauce. Add cucumbers.

*Sweet and Sour Sauce*
2 cups water (hot)
8 tablespoon sugar
6 tablespoon vinegar (I used apple cider vinegar)
1/2 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoon corn starch mixture from meat mixture. (Add last)

If you like spicy food, add about 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper into the sweet and sour sauce.
