Have you ever visited Kevin's
"Closet Cooking" blog? It is fabulous, definitely one of my favorite food blogs to visit. Despite of my love for this blog, I had never tried his recipes. I always bookmark his recipes but never had a chance to try them out. But when I saw this recipe, I immediately checked if I had all the ingredients for it and I knew that I just had to try it. This is a fabulous Korean recipe that I loved to eat back in Korea. I was craving some Korean food and this completely satisfied my craving. It is a little spicy but also sweet at the same time. It was wonderful with white rice and lettuce.
Dak Bulgogi (닭불고기)
Korean Spicy and Sweet Chicken BBQ
Get the original recipe
HERE*Changes I made: I used a fuji apple instead of Asian pear. But I know Asian pear works wonderfully in Korean bbq. But I just didn't have it on hand. But apples work great as well.
*Gochujang is red pepper paste that Koreans eat almost everyday. It's spicy and sweet at the same time. You should be able to get it at any oriental stores.
That sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteCan't get enough of Korean food and this looks fantastic. Sounds great with hot rice and crisp lettuce.YUM!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE dak bulgogi (and regular beef bulgogi too). Yum!
ReplyDeleteI checked the original recipe. Really is a great one. I love Korean food but they are quite expensive in San Francisco. Why wouldn't you want to use grated pear but instead opted to use fuji apple?
ReplyDeleteXiao Yen Recipes,
ReplyDeleteI understand how that is. It's expensive around here, too. But homemade Korean food costs whole lot less. :) I wanted to use Asian pear but I didn't have it on hand.. So I used an apple instead. It worked out great. But I definitely recommend Asian or Korean pears. :)
This is one of our favourite!
